Mr Podcast Presenter

November 14th, 2009 | By Ross

Hi everyone out there, I’m Ross and if you’ve managed to listen to any of the Mubla 2.0 podcasts then you’ve already met me, sort of. To put it simply, I’m a fan of Rob and Kal, hopefully like most of you guys reading this, and I’ll be posting the odd blog as a fan/friend to add to what they guys are writing.

We’ve just been recording another podcast and I was lucky enough to hear some of the most recent song progressions, and wow do they sound good! As I’m sure everyone out there has already seen, Rob and Kal’s songs that are on the website at the moment are all, let’s face it, pretty basic. The original versions with one piano and two vocals don’t really feel like full songs yet, and the guys have got a long way to go yet but let me tell you, as soon as any instruments are added, it really makes a difference. That’s the magic of seeing real music develop and a real song being created, following how the changes affect it, and that’s what I find so exciting. Of course Rob and Kal already have an idea of how they want the songs to sound and what’s going to happen to them, but to us looking in from the outside it’s difficult to imagine how it will end up and at the early stage, they often sound just……wrong. These songs do to me, in particular the one that Rob’s just played to me, Vedere. The piano races along, and it all seems kind of flat, it just doesn’t quite fit yet.

As soon as they played me a video clip of them rehearsing with more instruments however, it is transformed, it comes to life! It suddenly becomes something entirely different and has a completely new feeling to it. To someone like me, with very little…actually….no experience of recording music, it’s amazing how different a song can sound, and how much it can change. Frankly I’m amazed at how it now sounds and how much I now like it! I won’t spoil anything by saying what’s been added, that’s not my place, but I guarantee you’ll want to hear the new version. Well I like it anyway, it’s got a whole new feeling to it but that’s just my opinion, the guys still need your opinions and views so let them know what you think.
