Mubla 2.0: Last Rehearsal
October 24th, 2009 | By Kal
I just thought I’d stop by and post a quick blog.
In a few minutes I’ll be leaving for our final rehearsal before we go into the studio. This is the last time we have to mess around with any of the ideas we have, or to get confident with some of the more difficult bits we have written, because once you get to the studio it’s all about being a “one take wonder”.
Overall, I’m looking forward to going to the studio for the first time as just Rob and Kal, but this weekend will have a huge baring on how I feel on the first day. Clearly at first you get better with each rehearsal and you learn to play together with just guitar, piano and vocals for the particular songs you are playing, but lately I’ve noticed that we can have really good rehearsals or really bad ones. I’m sure the difference isn’t all that much but sometimes, you come out of a session feeling ecstatic, as if the music is flawless and others it just doesn’t click and I can feel deflated that perhaps the music is a lot worse than I think.
Whatever happens though, I think the whole prospect of people listening to our unfinished music and critiquing it will carry me through the rehearsal and hopefully through the recording session.
Enough of the almost mopey stuff! I am really looking forward to this, so I’ll speak to you maybe at the end of the weekend just before we go into the studio to keep you informed. I have a feeling this whole thing is about to pick up so keep watching!
